IPEの想像力 4/7/2025
「Dear にっぽん」を観ました。北海道名寄町。北の大地で生きる酪農家の話です。
父の友二さんがいつも笑顔で息子の元さんを見守っている。その姿がすばらしいと思いました。
喉頭癌で働けなくなった父の牧場を継ぐために、フランスでパティシエの修行をしていた元さんが帰国します。
友二さんが実現した放牧酪農では、牛は厩舎を出て牧場を歩きながら草を食べます。元さんも、毎日、草をはむ牛たちを呼び集める。迷子の牛を探す。隣の畑に入り込んだ牛が多いと、父親ならもっとうまくできただろう、と悔やむ。
乳しぼり。厩舎の掃除。冬に備えて牧草を刈る。草刈り機の運転を教わる。
あるとき、飼っている牛たちの半分に乳房炎が広がり、出荷できる牛乳が減った。病気の原因をいろいろ考える。牛たちは話すことができないから、考えるしかないんだよな、と友二さんは言う。
最期は牧場で過ごすため、友二さんが退院してきた。久しぶりに見た青い空をみて、笑顔で大いに称賛する。自動車の窓から、緑の濃い牧場をみて、元がたっぷり堆肥をまいているからだ、と誇らしげに笑う。そして、牧場で亡くなった。

帝国の中枢を襲って占領した蛮族は、その支配者たちを殺戮し、さまざまな制度や文化遺産を略奪し、破壊した。

トランプ大統領は、「アメリカ解放の日」として、世界に対する関税引き上げ、貿易戦争の祭典を、ホワイトハウスの庭から宣言しました。
トランプは、彼なりに本気で、白人労働者階級を救いたい、と思っているのかもしれません。しかし、高関税を対米黒字国に課すことや、移民を国境で阻止し、国内では「不法移民」を逮捕し、国外に追放することで、アメリカの労働者たちが幸せになることはないでしょう。
女性や左派を抑圧しても、リベラルな思想や国際協力を否定しても、それは彼の自尊心を満たす行為でしかないように思います。知識人や大学を嫌い、伝統的なエリートや官僚主義を嫌う。民間ビジネスを重視するべきだ、と言いながら、自分の名声と富、権力によって敵対する者を圧倒することが正義であり、アメリカ国民が自分を支持している、と主張する。それが民主主義のもたらす権力であり真実だ。
こういう家父長型・暴君型の高齢男性、社長や店主が、ときどき、いるかもしれません。酔っぱらって飲み屋で大声を上げ、友だちを困らせる人もいるでしょう。しかし、アメリカ大統領になることはありえない。許されない妄想です。

トランプンという《時代》を理解しなければなりません。彼はアメリカを覆う狂信の避雷針です。
カナダは併合する。EUは敵である。日本は隷属国家である。

・・・アンガス・ビルスマ: 「[キンドルバーガー]は2012年に再出版され、デロングとアイケングリーンの序文が添えられ、米国では『善意の覇権に、必要な責任と犠牲を負う能力と意欲が、衰える可能性が高い』と論じた。2012年に何が悪かったか。それは『米国における異常な政治機能不全』と、欧州の政権を握る官僚たちが、自ら進んで行動したり、その任務を引き受けなければならないと有権者を説得したりしなかったこと』である。
この診断はもはや時代遅れだ。米国は現在、善意の覇権の責任に積極的に反抗しているが、欧州の官僚たちは不確実で命がけの脱皮に、ロブスターのように身もだえしている」。
